Vote for your favorite image in the Global Photo Contest! Voting is open until April 21, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.

The Global Photo Contest showcases diverse cultural perspectives through photographs accompanied by short commentaries explaining the photo’s cultural significance to the photographer. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni have submitted photographs to share their unique perspectives from their international journeys with the larger campus community.

The theme of this year’s content is defy imagination. As more Banana Slugs find themselves traversing the globe and partaking in a rich exchange of knowledge, ideas, and culture, the contest asked participants to consider, “How does the photo show something unexpected to you during your international journey? How does the image help you expand your worldview?”

28 people submitted images for voting during the contest. All in all the division received 44 individual photo submissions in two categories, photos from abroad and photos from the U.S.

Prizes will be awarded to top 3 most liked photographs. Those who receive the most votes will receive a free pizza party from Woodstock’s, free cookies from Pacific Cookie Company, and gift certificates to Palace Art Supply.

Winning photographs will be printed and displayed during the Photo Contest Showcase Reception during Alumni Weekend on April 27, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon in the Cervantes and Velasquez conference room. After the showcase, the winning photos will be displayed in the Global Engagement office and on global.ucsc.edu.
