Request a Visit to UC Santa Cruz

Visit requests must be submitted through our online Delegation Visit Request Form. We will need the following information:

  • Proposed date of the visit
  • Information about your institution or organization
  • Goals and objectives for the visit

In order to make the most of your visit, we require that you submit the form at least 6 weeks in advance of your visit. If your visit request involves the Chancellor or the Executive Vice Chancellor/Campus Provost, submit the form 8-12 weeks in advance.

Travel to and from UC Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is located on the north end of the Monterey Bay on the Central California coast, just south of San Francisco. Getting here is easy; Several major highways run to Santa Cruz, and the San Francisco and San Jose International Airports are all nearby.

Directions from Bay Area Airports

San Jose International (SJC): Airport is approximately 35 miles from the UC Santa Cruz campus. Airport shuttle service is available by reservation. 

  • Leave the San Jose Airport and get onto Highway 17/880 South. Take Highway 17 south to Santa Cruz. 
  • As you approach Santa Cruz, Highway 17 will merge with Highway 1. Follow signs for Highway 1 north toward Half Moon Bay. 
  • After merging onto Highway 1, you will go through one traffic signal, then across railroad tracks. Stay in the far right turn lane. Turn right at the next traffic signal, onto Mission Street (follow signs for Mission Street and Highway 1 north to Half Moon Bay). Continue on Mission Street to Bay Street. 
  • Turn Right on Bay Street and travel north. As you cross High Street you will enter the campus at which point Bay Street turns into  Coolidge Drive.

San Francisco International (SFO): Airport is approximately 62 miles from the UC Santa Cruz campus.

  • Follow Highway 101 south towards San Jose to Highway 880 south (which becomes Highway 17). 
  • Exit onto 880/17 south to Santa Cruz. It will merge with Highway 1, follow Highway 1 north to Half Moon Bay. You will go through one signal, then across railroad tracks. Stay in the far right turn lane. Turn right at the next signal, onto Mission Street (Mission Street and Highway 1 north to Half Moon Bay). Continue on Mission to Bay Street. 
  • Turn Right on Bay Street and travel north. As you cross High Street you enter the campus and are now on Coolidge Drive.

Directions from Nearby Major Cities

Los Angeles:

  • Take Interstate 5 north toward Sacramento. 
  • Take exit 403B to merge onto CA-152. 
  • Turn left onto Bloomfield Ave. 
  • Turn right onto CA-25 North. 
  • Merge onto US-101 South. 
  • Turn right onto CA-129 West toward Watsonville. 
  • Merge onto CA-1 North to Santa Cruz. Use the left 2 lanes to merge onto CA-1 N/CA-17 S/Santa Cruz Hwy toward Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay. Use the right lane to turn slightly right onto CA-1 N/Mission St (signs for Half Moon Bay). 
  • Turn right onto Highland Avenue. Turn left onto High Street. Turn right onto Coolidge Drive.

San Francisco Bay Area: 

  • Take Merge onto I-280 South. 
  • Merge onto CA-85 South toward Gilroy.
  • Take exit 11A to merge onto CA-17 S toward Santa Cruz. 
  • Continue on CA-1 North. 
  • Use the right lane to turn slightly right onto CA-1 N/Mission St (signs for Half Moon Bay)
