In March 2017 UC Santa Cruz hosted a visit by the Consul General of Mexico in San Jose, Mauricio Toussaint and the Consul of Community Affairs, Culture & Education, Loren Cruz Sandoval. The delegation toured the campus, met with students from Mexico, attended a luncheon hosted by the Chancellor, visited a lab and toured the Seymour Discovery Center. The purpose of the visit was to raise awareness of UC Santa Cruz with the Mexican government and to learn of initiatives in Mexico that could provide opportunities for engagement in Mexico by faculty and students of UC Santa Cruz.
