Study Abroad fall program updates

Discussions are underway surrounding enrollment for fall UC Santa Cruz study abroad programs, including global exchange programs and UCEAP programs. The team intends to reach a decision for fall departing global exchange programs in May.

One of the key concerns for the Study Abroad team is student financial investment which includes booking airfare, making housing deposits, and other accommodations abroad. The team will also consider timelines for processing passports and visas, which have seen a delay in recent months.

“We must first ensure that students are protected financially and academically. With careful planning on our part, we want students to be confident in their course enrollment once a decision has been reached,” Director of Study Abroad Alice Michel said.

Study Abroad continues to gather news, updates, and forecasts about global timeframes surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak and when students can be allowed to safely return to international travel.

Updates for fall study abroad programs will be posted on the UC Santa Cruz Study Abroad website. Specific program information will be emailed directly to students as updates are available.

Summer study abroad programs have all been canceled for UC Santa Cruz and UCEAP, and application fees will be refunded.
