UCSC sees record Gilman Scholarship recipients

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers awards of up to $5,000 for Pell Grant recipients to study or intern abroad. This year, 37 UC Santa Cruz students received the Gilman Scholarship, a record number for UC Santa Cruz. In comparison, 18 students received the scholarship last year.

Universidad de los Andes in Colombia invited UC Santa Cruz and Purdue University to participate in a grant proposal and were awarded joint funding for the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund grant to support undergraduate student international research internships. The grant will fund two Colombian students for a research internship at both UC Santa Cruz and Purdue.

Call for Proposals: UCEAP Academic Integration Grants Program

UCEAP has allocated $50,000 for academic departments to integrate study abroad programs and coursework into their curricula. Our goal is to fund ten teams of faculty and staff up to $5,000 each to work over the next year to make studying abroad accessible for undergraduate students.
Recent graduate receives Fulbright student award

Kirby Parnell, a recent graduate of UC Santa Cruz, has received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award to Denmark in Biology from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Parnell will conduct research at the University of Southern Denmark as part of her project focused on harbor seal communication and reproductive behavior.
