The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers awards of up to $5,000 for Pell Grant recipients to study or intern abroad. A supplemental award of up to $3,000 is available to students who will study a critical need language for a combined total of $8,000.
This year, 26 out of 72 UC Santa Cruz student applicants received the Gilman Scholarship, which means that 1 in 3 students who applied to the Gilman were awarded during this application cycle.
The scholarship provides assistance to undergraduate students who might not otherwise be able to participate in a study abroad or away program due to financial constraints.
“The Global Learning team is overjoyed to see so many of our deserving students earn this prestigious award. The Gilman enhances divisional efforts to increase access to global learning opportunities by providing critical financial support to students,” said Ashley Bayman, Global Learning coordinator and advisor.
