International Education Week

What is International Education Week?

Each November, the Department of State and the Department of Education celebrates and promotes the benefits of international education and exchange during International Education Week (IEW). Campuses nationwide participate in this annual celebration. This year, IEW falls on the week of Nov. 13–16, 2018.

International Education Week at UC Santa Cruz

For the second year in a row, the Division of Global Engagement has partnered with departments, colleges, and offices across campus to provide our community with a wide range of intercultural, international, and globally-themed events during IEW. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your cultural perspective by sharing with and learning from others.

Join us as we honor our campus diversity and promote open-mindedness, cultural exchange, and an environment of inclusion!

Participate in IEW

Are you interested in broadening intercultural and global awareness on campus? The Division of Global Engagement is seeking cross-campus involvement with the hope that your department, office, or college consider hosting a cultural or global-themed event during the week of Nov. 13–16, 2018.

Suggested events include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Diversity and inclusion workshop
  • Lesson on language or culture
  • Lecture on global economics
  • Night in the residence halls where international students share their culture with others and/or study abroad returnees talk about their experiences

Thanks to your efforts last year, there were over 20 IEW events open to our campus community!

To get involved and host an event, register through our online form by Oct. 22, 2018.
