This year, 31 out of 73 UC Santa Cruz student applicants received the Gilman Scholarship, which means that 42% of students who applied to the Gilman were awarded during this application cycle.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers awards of up to $5,000 for Pell Grant recipients to study or intern abroad. A supplemental award of up to $3,000 is available to students who will study a critical need language for a combined total of $8,000. If a student’s program includes a STEM-related component, they can receive a STEM Supplemental Award of up to $1,000.

The scholarship provides assistance to undergraduate students who might not otherwise be able to participate in a study abroad or away program due to financial constraints.

“The Global Learning team is absolutely thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of our outstanding students who have earned this prestigious award!. The Gilman Scholarship enhances divisional efforts, amplifying our mission to expand access to transformative global learning experiences by offering essential financial support to our deserving scholars,” said Arturo Torres, Global Learning advisor.

More scholarship information can be found in the Scholarships for Global Learning section of the Global Learning website.
